Original 1883 9 5/8 inch x 6 1/4 inch Lithograph titled ACCIPITRES:
- 1. Buteo lagopus. Rough-legged Buzzard
- 2. Serpentarius Secretarius. Secretary Bird
- 3. Asio otus. Long Eared Owl
Accipitres: An obsolete order that includes rapacious birds, and now forms part of the Accipitriformes. They have a hooked bill, and sharp, strongly curved talons. There are three families, represented by the vultures, the falcons or hawks, and the owls.
