Alexander Monro of Craiglockhart and Cockburn FRSE FRCPE (22 May 1733 – 2 October 1817) was a Scottish anatomist, physician and medical educator. To distinguish him as the second of three generations of physicians of the same name, he is known as secundus.

Engraving by James Heath (1757 – 1834). An English engraver. He enjoyed the patronage of George III and successive monarchs, and was an associate engraver of the Royal Academy.

After Henry Raeburn (1756 – 1823). Sir Henry Raeburn FRSE RA RSA (1756 – 1823) was a British portrait painter and Scotland’s first significant portrait painter since the Union to remain based in Scotland. He served as Portrait Painter to King George IV in Scotland.

The engraving is in very good condition with a small crease and minor soiling in the lower right corner. Reverse side blank.
