Original 1833 15 3/4 inch x 10 3/4 inch Mezzotint titled THE BETROTHED

Printed by William Giller (1805-circa 1868). Mezzotint and stipple engraver of sporting subjects and portraits, born in London where he exhibited at Suffolk Street (1825-56), also at the Royal Academy from 1855.

From a painting by Henry Liverseege (1803 – 1832). An English genre painter of literary and folklore subjects.

Inscription: Lettered below image with title, ‘To Benjamin Dobson, Esq. Bolton / This print from the Original Picture in his possession is respectfully dedicated by / The Publisher / London Published June 1 1833 by Moon, Boys & Graves, 6 Pall Mall: and J.C. Grundy, Manchester.’

The Mezzotint is in very good condition with glue residue along the left edge, a stain bottom centre a nick in the right edge and minor age-related surface marks. Reverse side blank
