Original French 47 inch x 63 inch Poster for the 1932 King Vidor Adventure BIRD OF PARADISE (L’OISEAU DE PARADIS), based on the play by Richard Walton Tully and starring Dolores Del Rio, Joel McCrea, John Halliday, Richard ‘Skeets’ Gallagher, Bert Roach and Lon Chaney Jr.

A native girl falls for a visitor to her island, but she’s chosen to be sacrificed to the volcano god.

Poster art by Bernard Lancy (1892-1964). Bernard Lancy was a prolific creator of film posters, and designed the artwork for many notable French and foreign films including “La Grande Illusion” (1937), “Le Jour Se Leve” (1939), “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” (1939), “Les Enfants du Paradis” (1945), “Notorious” (1946), “Joan of Arc” (1948) and “The Third Man” (1949). He was made Honorary president of the Union of cinema poster designers in 1945.

The poster is in very good folded condition with 3 inches of fold separation at the left end of the top horizontal fold. There is also very minor separation at one or two of the cross folds.
