Michael Balcon had wanted to make a film about the police’s work in 1939, but the Metropoliltan Police, when asked to discuss the project, delivered a crushing snub. A decade later, their co-operation was very full. Alexander Mackendrick directed the second unit, shooting the car scenes on location.
The still, removed from distributor’s key book of stills and mounted on linen quality paper, is in very good condition
