Original British 11 inch x 17 inch Trade Advert from Kinematograph Weekly for the 1949 Basil Dearden Ealing Studios Crime Drama THE BLUE LAMP, written by T.E.B. Clarke and starring Jack Warner, Dirk Bogarde, Jimmy Hanley, Patric Doonan, Peggy Evans, Robert Flemyng, Bernard Lee and Gladys Henson.

Michael Balcon had wanted to make a film about the police’s work in 1939, but the Metropiltan Police, when asked to discuss the project, delivered a crushing snub. A decade later, their co-operation was very full. Alexander Mackendrick directed the second unit, shooting the car scenes on location.
