Original 1866 7 inch x 9 1/2 inch engraving titled THE BREAKFAST-TABLE
A family gathered around a table, in front of a fireplace on the left, the father standing in the centre slicing the bread, mother pouring milk in her tea, grandmother behind looking towards her husband on the left who feeds a child sitting on his lap, four other children surrounding.
Lettered below image with title: ”From the picture in the collection of John Graham, Esq. Skelmorlie Castle, Largs, N.B.
Engraving by George Greatbach (1819 – 1884). Engraver, brother of William Greatbach.
After Thomas Webster (1800 – 1886). An English painter of genre scenes of school and village life, many of which became popular through prints. He lived for many years at the artists’ colony at Cranbrook in Kent.
