Fugitives for conscience sake (Huguenots or Walloons) leaving the Flemish coast for America, early 17th century.

Engraved by William James Palmer (c. 1858 – 1896). Wood-engraver; brief partnership with E.M.Wimperis as ‘Palmer and Wimperis,’ 1859.
