Engraving by Charles Maurand (1824 – 1904). Wood-engraver, born in Paris. Pupil of Eugène Guillaumot. Worked for ‘L’Univers Illustré’ (1875) and ‘Le Monde Illustré’ (1858-76).
from a painting by Joseph Louis Hippolyte Bellangé (1800 – 1866). A French battle painter and printmaker. As a youth, he produced several military drawings in lithography, later pursuing his systematic studies under Gros, and with the exception of some portraits, devoted himself exclusively to battle-pieces.

The engraving is in very good condition with slight creasing in the lower right corner and a sliver out of the upper left corner.
