Original British 9 1/2 inch x 7 1/2 inch Key Book Portrait of KATIE JOHNSON as Louisa Alexandra Wilberforce, “Mum” in the 1955 Alexander Mackendrick Classic Ealing Studios Comedy THE LADYKILLERS, written by William Rose.

Text on reverse: KATIE JOHNSON who, at the age of 77, has come out of retirement to play the most important role of her career as Louisa Alexandra Wilberforce, known affectionately as “Mum”, the little old lady who is the cause of the downfall of the “Gang” in the Michael Balcon-Ealing Studios comedy-thriller in Technicolor “THE LADYKILLERS”, directed by Alexander Mackendrick with Seth Holt as associate producer, from a story by William Rose.

Ealing’s last comic masterpiece, in which a gang of ill-matched bankroll thieves lodge in a genteel house near King’s Cross railway station, to be thwarted by their aged innocent landlady (Katie Johnson), and meet sudden ends.

The portrait is in very good condition with minor surface marks with a snipe tacked to the reverse
