MEET NERO WOLFE

£450.00

Original British 17 inch x 22 inch Double-Sided Trade Advertisement from Kinematograph Weekly for the 1936 Herbert J. Biberman Mystery MEET NERO WOLFE, based on the novel ‘Fer-de-Lance’ by Rex Stout and starring Edward Arnold, Lionel Stander, Dennie Moore, Victor Jory, Nana Bryant, Joan Perry, Russell Hardie, Walter Kingsford, Boyd Irwin, John Qualen, Gene Morgan, Rita Hayworth, Frank Conroy, Juan Torena and Martha Tibbetts.

Rex Stout’s portly detective prides himself on solving crimes without venturing outside his comfortable home; here he relies on others to do the legwork in pinpointing who among a number of suspects is responsible for two sudden deaths, which the authorities at first are not convinced were murders.

The advertisement artwork is by A. “Jock” W. Hinchliffe.
Hinchliffe was born in Perth, Scotland. In 1953 he had a studio in Chalk Farm, North London, where he produced a series of six oil paintings as publicity for 20th Century Fox’s “The Robe”. He had been engaged by Fox in 1926 and produced posters and ads continuously for them, and for Disney, well into the 1960s.

On the reverse are 2 adverts for the Gordon Wiles Crime Comedy BLACKMAILER starring William Gargan, Florence Rice and H.B. Warner and the D. Ross Lederman Drama THE FINAL HOUR starring Ralph Bellamy, Marguerite Churchill and John Gallaudet.

The Advertisement is in very good condition with a vertical centre fold with a few tiny staple holes along it.
