Original British 11 inch x 17 inch Double-Sided Trade Advertisement from Kinematograph Weekly for the 1949 Val Guest Musical Mystery MURDER AT THE WINDMILL starring Garry Marsh, Jon Pertwee, Jack Livesey, Eliot Makeham, Jimmy Edwards, Donald Clive, Peter Butterworth Constance Smith, Diana Decker and Donald Clive.

A man watching a musical show at the Windmill theatre is shot apparently from the stage. The cast continues the performance so that the detective can solve the murder.

Advert art by Arthur Ferrier (1891 – 1973). Ferrier was best known for his pin-up pictures and cartoons featuring leggy blondes – his work was very popular with the troops in World War II. In addition he worked in advertising producing magazine covers and fashion plates, as well as painting portraits in oils of society figures and stage stars.

On the reverse is the 11 inch x 8 1/2 inch Trade Advertisement for the 1949 Bernard Knowles Comedy THE PERFECT WOMAN, based on the play by Wallace Geoffrey & Basil Mitchell and starring Patricia Roc, Nigel Patrick, Stanley Holloway, David Hurst, Miles Malleson, Irene Handl, Anita Sharp-Bolster, Fred Berger, Pamela Devis, Jerry Verno, Jerry Desmonde, Johnnie Schofield, Dora Bryan and Noel Howlett.

That age-old male fantasy of the ultimate remote-control woman gets a high-tech satirical twist in this screwball-style, battle-of-the-sexes comedy. Roger Cavendish gets more than he bargained for when he agrees to act as escort for the ‘perfect’ robot woman. The riotous climactic scene in a bridal suite is a delight, and glamorous star Patricia Roc has a ball running rings around the hapless men.

The Advertisement is in very good condition with a vertical centre fold and 2 staple holes along it.
