Original 1951 British 40 inch x 50 inch Poster for OXFORD.
Poster art by Fred Taylor (1875 – 1963). Fred Taylor was one of Britain’s foremost poster artists from 1908 to the 1940s. Able to turn his hand to most subjects, Taylor was best known for his posters of buildings and architecture. He lived in London where he was a member of the Art Workers’ Guild from 1924.
As well as his designs for the Underground and London Transport he also designed for Empire Marketing Board as well as railway and shipping companies. He was also a decorative painter, exhibiting regularly at the Royal Academy. Taylor was an official camouflage artist during WWII.
Poster includes The Arms of Oxford University and its Colleges.
