Original 10 inch x 8 inch Portrait of MADELEINE CARROLL in the 1936 Alfred Hitchcock Thriller SECRET AGENT, based on the novel ASHENDEN by W. Somerset Maugham.

The film is set during World War I and features John Gielgud as British novelist Edgar Brodie, an officer whose death is faked so he can go abroad under the assumed name of Richard Ashenden to kill a German agent. Madeleine Carroll plays agent Elsa Carrington who poses as Ashenden’s wife to assist and to strengthen the guise.

The portrait, on doubleweight paper, is in very good condition with a very soft crease in the lower left corner and a pinhole in the top and bottom borders. Reverse side blank.
