SINCLAIR HILL

£160.00

Original 10 1/8 inch x 8 inch Portrait of SINCLAIR HILL

Had London-born director Sinclair Hill (1894–1945) learned his trade in the British film industry of the 1910s, chances are his work would have been as bland and uninspired as that of many of his silent film colleagues. Fortunately Hill was trained at Italy’s Turin Studios, whose films were far more artistically and technically advanced than most other films churned out by the English studios of the teens. Hill commenced his British career with 1920’s Tidal Wave, remaining active with such first-rate projects as The Guns of Loos (1928) and The Price of Divorce (1928) until the late ’30s. In addition to his directing credits, Sinclair Hill penned several screenplays during his two-decade movie career.

The portrait, on doubleweight paper, is in very good condition with slight surface creases and a couple of surface marks.
