BAD LUCK

£260.00

Original 1961 Russian 28 3/4 inch x 41 inch Poster for the 1959 Andrzej Munk Polish Comedy BAD LUCK (ZEZOWATE SZCZESCIE), based on the novel by Jerzy Stefan Stawinski and starring Bogumil Kobiela, Maria Ciesielska, Helena Dabrowska, Barbara Lass and Krystyna Karkowska.

Bad Luck is a comedic criticism of Poland’s self-proclaimed bravery, and wartime heroism. Jan Piszczyk, the “hero” of the story, is anything but a hero. This is one of the most popular comedies from post-war Poland.

The odyssey of a man through Poland from 1939 to 1950, in a changing world that seems to have no place for him. We watch him from his childhood to his first love, from his unwilling involvement in Fascist politics to his arrest and imprisonment in a POW camp.

Poster art by Mikhail Zakharovich Kheifits. Russian poster artist born in 1915. Graduate of Kharkov Institute of Arts.

The poster is in good to very good folded condition with a hole at the upper cross fold.
