Original British 30 inch x 40 inch Quad Poster for the 1960 Charles Crichton Comedy THE BATTLE OF THE SEXES, based on the short story “The Catbird Seat” by James Thurber and starring Peter Sellers, Robert Morley, Constance Cummings, Jameson Clark, Ernest Thesiger, Donald Pleasence, Moultrie Kelsall, Alex Mackenzie, Michael Goodliffe and William Mervyn.
Angela Barrows, an accomplished business analyst from the US, attempts to contemporise the late MacPherson’s tweed factory, shaking the very foundation of a men-only company.
The poster art is by Harry Stevens
Harry Stevens was born in 1919 in Manchester. With no formal art training, Stevens started his design career in the exhibitions and display trade. He went on to become a prolific freelance commercial artist, specialising in poster design. He worked for a wide variety of clients and agencies and in 1963 won the Council of Industrial Design Poster Award. In 1955 he joined the Society of Industrial Artists and was elected Fellow ten years later. He was also a member of the Society of Modern Painters. He designed posters for London Transport 1960-1978.
The poster is in very good condition with 2 small brown spots towards the bottom.
