A young woman in a bridal gown, sitting in an ornate chair and holding a necklace, looking with shocked expression to right, a box full of letters open on a table behind her at left; proof illustration to the Keepsake.
Engraved by Joseph Goodyear (1797 – 1839). Line engraver, born at Birmingham, worked in London; engraved small illustrations and vignettes for popular annuals.
After Fanny Corbaux (1812 – 1883). Marie Françoise Catherine Doetger Corbaux, usually known as Fanny Corbaux, was a British painter and biblical commentator.
