Original British 9 3/4 inch x 7 3/4 inch Portrait of STEWART GRANGER in the 1947 Frank Launder Drama CAPTAIN BOYCOTT, based on the novel by Philip Rooney.
“Captain Boycott” is set in 1880 in County Mayo, Ireland, during a period known as the Land War, where Irish tenant farmers were fighting against oppressive practices by absentee English landlords. The film stars Stewart Granger as Hugh Davin, a patriotic farmer leading the resistance against the tyrannical land agent Captain Charles Boycott, played by Cecil Parker.

Born in Nottingham in 1889 Rosher also worked as stills photographer for Michael Powell’s BLACK NARCISSUS and I KNOW WHERE I’M GOING.
The portrait is in very good condition with a minor surface crease.
