Chester Conklin’s first movie role was as a Keystone Kop for Mack Sennett after several years touring in vaudeville. He stayed with Sennett for 6 years working with Mack Swain, Mabel Normand and Charlie Chaplin and then was contracted by Fox to produce several comedy shorts. He appeared in over 280 films, his last being “Big Deal at Dodge City” in 1966. He died in 1971.
The still is in good condition, mounted on linen, with a rough crease in the lower left of the image, running through Conklin’s hand and into his chin.
