Original British 30 inch x 40 inch Quad Poster for the 1985 Steven Spielberg Drama THE COLOR PURPLE, based on the novel by Alice Walker and starring Danny Glover, Adolph Caesar, Margaret Avery, Rae Dawn Chong, Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey and Laurence Fishburne.

An epic tale spanning forty years in the life of Celie, an African-American woman living in the South who survives incredible abuse and bigotry.

Poster art by John Alvin (1948 – 2008). An American cinematic artist and painter who illustrated many movie posters. Alvin created posters and key art for more than 135 films, beginning with the poster for Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles in 1974.
