£49.50

Original 9 1/4 inch x 7 1/4 inch Black and White Still of LILLI PALMER, SYLVIA SYMS & MICHAEL GOODLIFFE in the 1960 Ralph Thomas Wartime Drama CONSPIRACY OF HEARTS

Still by Norman Gryspeerdt.

Norman Louis Gryspeerdt was born in Croydon in 1911 and worked in the family meat market business in Smithfields until the outbreak of war when he enlisted in the Royal Navy. Due to his keen interest in photography, having been a member of the Croydon Camera Club since the age of 15, he was placed in charge of the photographic section on the aircraft carrier H.M.S. Implacable. For the first time in his life he was using photography in a working context photographing everything from deck-landings to formal portraits. After the war he worked for a woman’s fashion magazine but was soon working for the J. Arthur Rank Organisation as stills photographer, a position he kept for 15 years when he moved on to Universal Pictures till their closure in 1969. He then retired to Eastbourne where he resumed his passion for the Bromoil process for which, in the photographic world, his name is especially associated.

He was made a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society in 1980 and nine years later he was invited to become a member of the London Salon of Photography, generally regarded as the most prestigious honour in the photographic world; members of the Salon come from all over the world and are elected for life, membership being restricted to some thirty-five photographers.

He died in 1998.

The still is in very good condition with a synopsis tacked to the reverse.
