Hand, Hamilton Luske, Jim Handley, Ford Beebe, T. Hee, Norman Ferguson & Wilfred Jackson Walt Disney Animated Fantasy FANTASIA with music conducted by Leopold Stokowski.
Disney’s still wonderful feature-length Silly Symphony, composed of eight animated sequences, each depicting a popular piece of classical music. Highlights: Mickey Mouse in Dukas’s ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’, the surreal images to Bach’s ‘Toccata and Fugue’, the elephant ballet to Ponchielli’s ‘Dance of the Hours’, and the prehistoric sequence for Stravinski’s’Rite of Spring’.
The poster artwork is by A. “Jock” W. Hinchliffe.
Hinchliffe was born in Perth, Scotland. In 1953 he had a studio in Chalk Farm, North London, where he produced a series of six oil paintings as publicity for 20th Century Fox’s “The Robe”. He had been engaged by Fox in 1926 and produced posters and ads continuously for them, and for Disney, well into the 1960s.
