Original U.S. 27 inch x 41 inch 1-Sheet Poster for the 1971 William Friedkin Thriller THE FRENCH CONNECTION, based on the novel by Robin Moore and starring Gene Hackman, Roy Scheider, Fernando Rey, Tony Lo Bianco, Marcel Bozzuffi, Eddie Egan, Frédéric de Pasquale, Bill Hickman, Ann Rebbot and Harold Gary.
Hackman’s brilliant, breathless performance as Popeye Doyle unexpectedly turned him into a star. The movie won 5 Oscars, including best picture, best actor (Hackman), director and screenplay. Based on a real narcotics bust in 1961, it boasts a remarkably strong narrative drive, powerful effects, a zest for New York low-life and a classic car chase.
