Original British 1961 11 inch x 8 3/8 inch Trade Advertisement from Kinematograph Weekly for Kenneth Rive’s GALA FILM DISTRIBUTORS.

In 1952 Kenneth Rive (1918 – 2002) bought the leases of two cinemas in central London, which, as the Berkeley and the Continentale, became the foundations of a prestigious, national arthouse circuit. In 1958 he created Gala Film Distributors to feed his cinemas, and quickly expanded its repertoire, distributing films by Resnais, Lelouch, Chabrol, Bergman, Fellini, Bunuel and Kurosawa, among others.
