Original 1878 6 7/8 inch x 5 1/4 inch engraving titled HEAD OF A DEERHOUND
This is a portrait of Landseer’s favourite deerhound, Hafed, painted in 1834.
Engraved by Charles George Lewis (1808 – 1880). Line, stipple, mezzotint engraver and etcher. Best known for his numerous engravings after Edwin Landseer (from 1837).
After Edwin Landseer (1802 – 1873). Sir Edwin Henry Landseer RA was an English painter and sculptor, well known for his paintings of animals – particularly horses, dogs, and stags.
