HELL DRIVERS

Original 9 3/8 inch x 7 1/4 inch Still of JILL IRELAND reading the Penguin Classic “The Golden Ass” by Lucius Apuleius during a break in filming the 1957 Cy Endfield Thriller HELL DRIVERS.

The film provided early appearances for Jill Ireland and David McCallum, who met and married each other during the film’s production.

Still by Ian Jeayes. Jeayes began work in the Camera Department at Sound City Shepperton, in 1933, as clapper boy. He then became a freelance photographer and in 1936 started work at Denham as a publicity photographer. After war service he joined the Stills Department at Denham.

The still is in good to very good condition with a slight surface crease and small corner crease upper left. The still looks like it was once stuck in an album as there is glure residue on the reverse. There is also a brief synopsis and cast list tacked to the reverse.
