Portrait of the composer Johann Sebastian Bach; half-length, directed and looking to right, holding a music manuscript in hie left hand, wearing shoulder-length curly wig, dark open jacket and waistcoat, pleated shirt; surrounded by buildings of Leipzig, figures walking towards his monument below.
Print by Albert Henry Payne (1812 – 1902). Painter, etcher and publisher; born in London, worked in Leipzig from 1838. In 1845 Henry Albert Payne became a citizen of Leipzig, where he founded the publishing company “Englische Kunstanstalt”.
