KIND HEARTS AND CORONETS

Original 9 3/4 inch x 7 3/4 inch Still of VALERIE HOBSON in the 1949 Robert Hamer Classic Ealing Studios Black Comedy KIND HEARTS AND CORONETS, based on the novel by Roy Horniman.

In the course of his rise to the Dukedom by killing off the entire D’Ascoyne family, Louis Mazzini (Dennis Price) conducts parallel affairs, one with a woman he loves, the other with a woman he needs. Sibella (Joan Greenwood) is the daughter of the family where he boarded after his mother’s death; she loves him, but believes he has no prospects, marries a boring man Lionel (John Penrose) whom Louis is wrongly accused of murdering, and then begins to call on Louis. The other woman, Edith (Valerie Hobson), is the widow of one of his victims, and well-placed with money and position in society. When the amoral Louis is not with the one he loves, he loves the one he’s with. Both now await his release from gaol.

The still, removed from the original key book, is in very good condition with a ‘REFERENCE ONLY’ stamp top right and slight warping.
