LE PARAMOUNT PARIS

£35.00

Original 1927 12 1/4 inch x 8 1/2 inch Paramount Photogravure Print of LE PARAMOUNT PARIS.

The current building is built on the site of the former Vaudeville theatre, built between 1866 and 1868 on the Grands Boulevards by Auguste-Joseph Magne. The caryatids that adorned the facade are due to the sculptor Jules Salmson. At the end of the 1920s, the theatre was acquired by the Paramount company which destroyed it and replaced it with a 1900-seat cinema inaugurated on November 24 , 1927 under the name Paramount before being renamed Paramount-Opéra. It was designed by the architect Auguste Bluysen who initially planned an entirely Art Deco project, but to respect the Scheduling of the Opera district defined by imperial decree in 1860.

The print is in fine condition.
