Original British 17 inch x 11 inch Trade Advertisement for the 1960 Lewis Gilbert Comedy LIGHT UP THE SKY, based on the play “Touch It Light” by Robert Storey and starring Ian Carmichael, Tommy Steele, Benny Hill, Sydney Tafler, Victor Maddern, Harry Locke, Johnny Briggs, Cyril Smith, Dick Emery, Cardew Robinson and Sheila Hancock.

The bumbling, mismatched members of a Second World War British Army Searchlight Squad pull together to safeguard their country. Two of the soldiers try to launch a showbiz career, putting on regular performances at a local variety theatre while off duty.

Ad art by Harry Stevens (1919 – 2008). Harry Stevens was born in Manchester and with no formal art training started his design career in the exhibitions and display trade. He went on to become a prolific freelance commercial artist, specialising in poster design. He worked for a wide variety of clients and agencies and in 1963 won the Council of Industrial Design Poster Award. In 1955 he joined the Society of Industrial Artists and was elected Fellow ten years later. He was also a member of the Society of Modern Painters. He designed posters for London Transport 1960-1978.

The Advertisement is in very good condition with one vertical centre fold with 4 staple holes along. There are 4 faint vertical creases.
