Original British 11 inch x 17 inch Double-Sided Trade Advertisement for the 1946 Wesley Ruggles Musical LONDON TOWN starring Sid Field, Greta Gynt, Tessie O’Shea, Claude Hulbert, Sonnie Hale, Petula Clark and Kay Kendall.

An aging music hall performer returns to London believing he’s the star of a new show. When he discovers that he’s only slated to be the understudy, his daughter sabotages the revue’s star in order to get him back into the spotlight.

The poster art is by Francis Marshall (1901 – 1980). Francis Marshall studied at Slade College of Fine Art, London before entering the world of advertising illustration. In 1928 he began a 10-year relationship with Condé Nast, drawing for ‘Vogue’ In 1959 he wrote a successful book on drawing entitled ‘Magazine Illustration. He also did the art for Michael Powell’s “A Matter of Life and Death”.

The Advertisement is in very good condition with one vertical centre fold and 8 tiny holes along it caused by staple wear.
