MICHELE MORGAN

£260.00

Original 1941 RKO 10 1/4 inch x 7 1/4 inch Portrait of French actress MICHELE MORGAN.

Michele Morgan was born Simone Roussel, on February 29th, 1920, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. She was a leading personality of French and international films since the mid-1930s; a classic beauty – delicate, feminine, worldly, and remote, with unforgettably big, expressive eyes. She studied drama under Rene Simon, entered films at 15, and quickly advanced from bits to lead roles. She soon became the most popular screen actress in France. During World War II she made several films in Hollywood, but most of her American directors failed to utilize her unique personality. She won the best actress award at Cannes for her performance in Jean Delannoy’s “La Symphonie pastorale (1946). She was named Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1969. She died in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 2016.

The portrait, on heavyweight paper, is in very good condition.
