A Hungarian-born composer, most famous for his Hollywood and British film scores, but also responsible for a significant body of chamber pieces, concertos, and orchestral music for the concert hall. His film scores include Knight Without Armour (1937), The Four Feathers (1939), The Thief of Bagdad (1940), Five Graves to Cairo (1943), Double Indemnity (1944), Spellbound (1945), The Lost Weekend (1945), The Killers (1946), Brute Force (1947), Lust for Life (1956), Ben-Hur (1959), King of Kings (1961), The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970) and Time After Time (1979).

The portrait, on doubleweight paper, is in very good condition.
