Original 10 inch x 8 inch Portrait of DEREK FARR in the 1948 Edmond T. Greville Thriller NOOSE, based on the play by Richard Llewellyn.

The portrait is by Walter Bird.

Walter Bird began working mostly on advertising commissions and portraits of actors, published in magazines such as Tatler and Theatre World. He published several books on photography including Eves without Leaves (1940), which proved popular with British troops during the Second World War. During the war Bird served with the Crown Film Unit, before re-establishing his business at 46 Queen’s Gate, London.

Text on the reverse: DEREK FARR, talented young Associated British contract star who takes the part of ex-war correspondent Jumbo Hoyle in the Associated British/Edward Dryhurst film “NOOSE”, which aslo stars Carole Landis and Joseph Calleia, with Stanley Holloway and Nigel Patrick. “NOOSE” was directed by the celebrated Anglo-French director, Edmond Greville, and is for distribution by Pathe Pictures. Derek Farr’s recent pictures have included “BOND STREET”, “THE SILENT DUST”.

The portrait is in very good condition.
