Original 1981 British 30 inch x 40 inch Quad Poster for the 1979 Michelangelo Antonioni Drama THE OBERWALD MYSTERY (IL MISTERO DI OBERWALD), based on the Jean Cocteau play “The Eagle Has Two Heads” and starring Monica Vitti, Franco Branciaroli and Luigi Diberti.
The film is about a man who breaks into the castle at Oberwald to kill the queen but faints before doing so. The man’s physical resemblance to the murdered king leads to a strange turn of events.
Poster art by Andrzej Klimowski. Klimowski was born of Polish parents in London in 1949. From 1968 to 1972 he studied sculpture and painting at St Martins School of Art and from 1973 to 1980 he lived and worked in Warsaw, the first two years of which he studied poster design under Professor Henryk Tomaszewski. He is Professor Emeritus for the School of Communication at the Royal College of Art in London.
