OLIVER TWIST
£950.00
Original 9 3/4 inch x 7 3/4 inch Black and White Still of DAVID LEAN & JOHN HOWARD DAVIES during a break in filming the 1948 David Lean Drama OLIVER TWIST, based on the novel by Charles Dickens.
Expressionistic noir photography suffuses David Lean’s Oliver Twist with a nightmarish quality, fitting its bleak, industrial setting. In Dickens’ classic tale, an orphan wends his way from cruel apprenticeship to a den of thieves lead by Alec Guinness as the quintessential Fagin.
The photo is by Charles Trigg (1916 – 2000). Trigg began as a freelance photographer in 1934 and joined Gainsborough in 1943. He worked on The Way to the Stars and Caravan, then in 1945 went to Denham where he did School for Secrets, then to Pinewood for Oliver Twist and The Passionate Friends. He later worked on Reach for the Sky and Carve Her Name With Pride and many others.
The still is in very good condition.
