£75.00
Original 1878 9 3/4 inch x 6 inch engraving titled ON THE LLUGY, NORTH WALES
The view is taken from the banks of the Llugwy, about a mile below Capel Curig, showing prominently Moel Siabod, nearly 2,000 feet in height. There is a small island, covered with birch trees, in the river, and some venturesome people have managed to reach it, and appear to be enjoying a picnic by the waterside.
The River Llugwy is a tributary of the River Conwy, and has its source at Ffynnon Llugwy, a lake in the Carneddau range of mountains in Snowdonia in north-west Wales.
Engraved by Charles Cousen (c. 1819 – 1889). Line engraver and etcher born in Yorkshire.
From the painting by Benjamin Williams Leader (1831 – 1923). An English landscape painter.
Published in the Art Journal by J.S. Virtue & Co. Ltd., London.
