Original British 30 inch x 40 inch Quad Poster for the 1959 Gene Fowler Jr. Western THE OREGON TRAIL, based on a story by Louis Vittes and starring Fred MacMurray, William Bishop, Nina Shipman, Gloria Talbott, Henry Hull, John Carradine, James Bell, John Slosser and Elizabeth Patterson.

In 1846, a newspaperman joins an Oregon Trail wagon train to verify rumours about the U.S. government sending troops disguised as settlers there in order to claim Oregon.

The poster artwork is by A. “Jock” W. Hinchliffe.
Hinchliffe was born in Perth, Scotland. In 1953 he had a studio in Chalk Farm, North London, where he produced a series of six oil paintings as publicity for 20th Century Fox’s “The Robe”. He had been engaged by Fox in 1926 and produced posters and ads continuously for them, and for Disney, well into the 1960s.

The poster is in good to very good folded condition with slight creasing and marks one inch in all the way round the poster. There are 2 small holes towards the right edge and other minor faults.
