PAT GARRETT AND BILLY THE KID

Original British 30 inch x 40 inch Quad Poster for the 1973 Sam Peckinpah Western PAT GARRETT AND BILLY THE KID starring James Coburn, Kris Kristofferson, Richard Jaeckel, Katy Jurado, Chill Wills, Barry Sullivan, Jason Robards, Bob Dylan, R.G. Armstrong, Luke Askew, John Beck and Rita Coolidge.

The film is set at the tail-end of the 1880s in New Mexico where greed over cattle and land territory not only cause a rift between two old friends but also has repercussions involving the New West. Pat Garrett (played by James Coburn) catches Billy the Kid (singer Kris Kristopherson) over an old murder and sentences him to hang. Of course Billy escapes by blowing up the jail and the manhunt ensues.

Poster art by Ron Lesser. Born in New York City, Ron studied at the renowned Pratt Institute. In the 1970’s and 1980’s he produced several hundred western paperback covers and movie posters. Lesser made the posters for five Clint Eastwood western films, including the iconic poster for “High Plains Drifter” and “Joe Kidd”. Also the poster for Sam Peckinpah’s “Pat Garrett and Billy The Kidd”.

The poster is in very good folded condition with a small piece of surface paper loss in the upper left and lower right corners. A stain on the reverse does not bleed through.
