Original 9 3/8 inch x 7 1/8 inch Black and White Portrait of director JERZY KAWALEROWICZ for his 1966 Drama PHAROAH (FARAON), based on the novel by Boleslaw Prus.

Young Pharaoh Ramses XIII clashes with Egypt’s clergy over influence on the affairs of the state and its coffers.

Jerzy Kawalerowicz (1922 – 2007) was a graduate of the Cracow Film Institute and was an assistant director and screenwriter for several years before making his directorial debut in 1950 with “Commune”. In 1955 he was appointed artistic director of the “Kadr” production unit, which counts amongst its members such directors as Wajda, Munk and Konwicki. He is considered among the most gifted and visually orientated directors of postwar Polish cinema.

The portrait is in very good condition with minor creasing at the upper right edge.
