Original 9 3/4 inch x 7 1/2 inch Black and White Portrait of NAUNTON WAYNE in the 1948 Ralph Smart Segment of the Drama QUARTET entitled “The Facts of Life” , based on a story by W. Somerset Maugham.
Text attached to reverse: Naunton Wayne, well-known British actor who plays the role of Leslie, one of the club friends of of Henry Garnet (Basil Radford) in “The Facts of Life”, one of the four Somerset Maughamn stories comprising “Quartet”, Sydney Box’s new production for Gainsborough Pictures.
Produced by Antony Darnborough and directed by Ralph Smart, “The Facts of Life” stars Basil Radford, Naunton Wayne and Mai Zetterling, with Angela Baddeley, James Robertson Justice and Jack Watling.
”The Facts of Life was filmed at Shepherd’s Bush Studios.
Photograph by John Jay (1920 – 2005). John Jay was born in 1920 in London. His career began at the age of fifteen when he left school to become a photographer’s apprentice. He was one of Britain’s top motion picture photographers who traveled the world and worked on the sets of such films as Holiday Camp, Good-Time Girl, The Quatermass Xperiment, The Curse of Frankenstein, The Day the Earth Caught Fire, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Star Wars.
The portrait is in very good condition with a small crease in the bottom right corner
