Original British 11 inch x 8 1/2 inch Trade Advertisement from Kinematograph Weekly for the 1966 Norman Jewison Comedy THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING, based on the novel by Nathaniel Benchley and starring Carl Reiner, Eva Marie Saint, Alan Arkin, Brian Keith, Jonathan Winters, Theodore Bikel, Tessie O’Shea, Ben Blue, John Phillip Law, Andrea Brown and Paul Ford.
Without hostile intent, a Soviet submarine runs aground off New England. Men are sent for a boat, but many villagers go into a tizzy, risking bloodshed.
Advert art by Jack Davis (1924 – 2016). An American cartoonist and illustrator, known for his advertising art, magazine covers, film posters, record album art and numerous comic book stories. He was one of the founding cartoonists for Mad (an American humour magazine founded in 1952 by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher William Gaines) in 1952. His cartoon characters are characterized by extremely distorted anatomy, including big heads, skinny legs and large feet.
