Original British 14 1/2 inch x 11 inch Poster for the 1955 Brian Desmond Hurst Adventure SIMBA, MARK OF MAU MAU starring Dirk Bogarde, Virginia Mackenna, Earl Cameron, Donald Sinden, Basil Sydney, Marie Ney, Joseph Tomelty and Orlando Martins.
Poster art by Averardo Ciriello (1918 – 2016). An Italian artist and illustrator. Ciriello is mostly known for his work as a poster artist for Italian cinema productions. He designed his first movie posters for Lux Film in 1947, and since then provided over 3,000 drawings to many other distribution companies.
A European family in East Africa finds itself caught up in an uprising by local black Africans against their white colonial masters. Based on the Mau-Mau rebellion in Kenya in the early 1950s.
The poster is in very good condition with a small crease in 3 corners. There are credits and a synopsis on the reverse.
