Original 9 inch x 6 7/8 inch Still of ALBERT PREJEAN & POLA ILLERY in the 1930 René Clair Musical Comedy SOUS LES TOITS DE PARIS (UNDER THE ROOFS OF PARIS) also starring Edmond T. Gréville, Bill Bocket, Paul Ollivier, Gaston Modot, Raymond Aimos, Thomy Bourdelle and Delphine Abdala.

From its graceful opening pan across the (studio recreated) rooftops of the title to the multiple variations on its naggingly memorable theme song, the enchantment of Clair’s first talkie has remained intact. With Lazare Meerson’s elegantly spare sets, George van Parys’ jingly score, and the naïve if still affecting performances, this makes for a miniaturist masterpiece.

The still is in very good condition with the Tobis production company logo in the lower left corner and corner pinholes.
