Original French 47 inch x 63 inch Poster for the 1979 Roman Polanski Drama TESS, based on the novel “Tess of the d’Urbervilles” by Thomas Hardy and starring Nastassia Kinski, Peter Firth, Leigh Lawson, John Collin, Tony Church and Brigid Erin Bates.
A strong-willed peasant girl (Kinski) is sent by her father to the estate of some local aristocrats to capitalize on a rumour that their families are from the same line. This fateful visit commences an epic narrative of sex, class, betrayal, and revenge, which Polanski unfolds with deliberation and finesse.
Poster art by Rene Ferracci (1927 -1982). A French artistic director and poster designer. He is, with Clément Hurel, Boris Grinsson, Michel Landi and Jean Mascii, one of the most prolific creators of cinema posters in France in the second half of the 20th century.
