Original British 11 inch x 8 1/2 inch Trade Advertisement for the 1945 Arthur Crabtree Drama THEY WERE SISTERS, based on the novel by Dorothy Whipple and starring James Mason, Phyllis Calvert, Dulcie Gray, Hugh Sinclair, Anne Crawford, Peter Muray Hill, Dulcie Gray, Barrie Livesey and Pamela Kellino.

The story of three sisters who marry men of widely different character as their individual and widely-different married lives unfold. One sister (Phyllis Calvert) is happily married but childless; the second promiscuously plays through years of an unhappy and loveless marriage, and the third is tortured by the mental cruelties inflicted on her by a domineering husband (James Mason).
