Original British 30 inch x 40 inch Quad Poster for the 1959 Ken Annakin Adventure THIRD MAN ON THE MOUNTAIN, based on the novel ‘Banner in the Sky’ by James Ramsey Ullman and starring Michael Rennie, James MacArthur, Janet Munro, James Donald, Herbert Lom and Laurence Naismith.
Set during the golden age of alpinism, its plot concerns a young Swiss man who conquers the mountain that killed his father.
The poster artwork is by A. “Jock” W. Hinchliffe.
Hinchliffe was born in Perth, Scotland. In 1953 he had a studio in Chalk Farm, North London, where he produced a series of six oil paintings as publicity for 20th Century Fox’s “The Robe”. He had been engaged by Fox in 1926 and produced posters and ads continuously for them, and for Disney, well into the 1960s.

The poster is in very good folded condition with slight creasing 1 1/2 inches in all round the edges and corner pinholes.
