Original 1980 Re-Release British 20 inch x 30 inch Double Crown Poster for the 1965 Peter Watkins Sci-Fi Drama THE WAR GAME starring Kathy Staff, Dave Baldwin, Peter Watkins with commentary by Michael Aspel.

The War Game is Watkins’ 1965 Academy Award-winning television drama-documentary depicting a nuclear war, written, directed and produced by Watkins for the BBC’s The Wednesday Play anthology series. The film shows the prelude to, and immediate weeks of the aftermath, of a Soviet nuclear attack against Britain. Told in the style of a news magazine programme, the cast was made up of non-actors, with narration by Peter Graham and Michael Aspel reading quotations from source material.

Poster art by Stewart Mackinnon & Michael Leedham. Stewart Mackinnon is a Scottish film and television producer, founder and CEO of Headline Pictures. He studied at the Edinburgh College of Art before moving to London to attend the Royal College of Art where he co-edited the RCA magazine Ark in the 1970s. He designed the artwork for the British TV movie The War Game and went on to draw illustrations for Oz, Nova, Time Out, the Edinburgh Review, Spare Rib and The Times.
