WHISKY GALORE!
£160.00
Original 9 3/4 inch x 7 3/4 inch Portrait of BRUCE SETON in the 1949 Alexander Mackendrick Ealing Studios Comedy WHISKY GALORE!, based on the novel by Compton Mackenzie.
Todday in the Outer Hebrides is, in 1943, an island out of its favourite tipple: whisky. Then a ship laden with export Scotch runs aground. The crew abandons her and the islanders seize their chance. The local Home Guard captain (Basil Radford) calls in excise men, but the islanders are too wily. While whisky takes the place of water in the taps, the captain is left to take the blame.
The portrait, removed from the original key book, is in very good condition with a partially removed ‘REFERENCE ONLY’ ink stamp at the bottom and a very small stain in the bottom right corner.
